The Government of Vanuatu has modernized passport at par with ICAO international standards. Starting November 2025, the Department of Immigration and Passport Office will issue only electronic biometric passports known as e-Passports as per Passport Amendment Act 2025 passed in parliament, fully compliant with international passport standards for faster e-gate clearance, global recognition and trust, less queues and high security.
All Biometrics are including fingerprints, iris scans, and facial photographs are securely captured and stored into a chip inside your ePassport to align with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) travel standards.

The Vanuatu Immigration and Passport Services (VIPS) has already rolled out a decentralised passport issuance printing system across six key provinces within Vanuatu. The move, officially launched in early 2025, is designed to reduce waiting times, improve efficiency, and bring passport services closer to citizens across the country.
