Vanuatu Oath of Allegiance Ceremony

Upon issuance of your citizenship certificate, applicants are then required to take an Oath of Allegiance, and partake in a passport ceremony.

For those not already in Vanuatu, this usually requires the applicant to either travel to Vanuatu, or to cover the costs for two citizenship officers to travel to your country of choice.

The Oath of Allegiance and passport ceremony are performed when they cannot be done in person, such as performing the ceremony via video link, and sending your new passport via courier to a foreign mission where you are located. This makes now a great time to apply for Vanuatu citizenship.

Once the oath is completed, the citizenship certificate is issued followed by vanuatu passport.

New prospective citizens of Vanuatu are required to swear allegiance to Vanuatu with the below words

“I, …………………….., do swear [or solemnly affirm] that I will well and truly serve and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Vanuatu according to law. [So help me God]”.

OATH CEREMONY

The Legislation for the taking of oaths in vanuatu is contained in the Oaths Act. It is not possible to become a citizen of Vanuatu without attending the oath ceremony (omission or neglect).
